Transferring of video & movies to DVD

Video Production:

I have been involved in professional video production work for many years. I worked for Eskom in their TV studio at Megawatt Park where I managed all of the technical equipment, and also worked as a freelance person in many of the production areas, including cameraman, sound engineer, vision controller, and editor.

I have my own PC-based digital editing equipment and digital cameras, and can offer corporate video production work at a lower cost than most of the production houses. This includes the shooting of important meetings, special events and training videos. I am not in opposition to the advertising agencies and production houses, but rather offer a specialized service where smaller budgets are concerned. The end product can be recorded on the DVD format, and therefore can be copied without any loss of quality, unlike VHS video tape.

I have included a screenshot from my editing software called Pinnacle Studio. It is powerful software, and is able to do all digital editing with special effects, including chroma-key (like the weatherman on TV superimposed on a map), titling, etc. It also features advanced audio editing with special channels for voice-overs, music, and surround sound.

I am also capable of generating advanced 3-D graphics and animations for use in videos, and in presentation graphics, such as Microsoft PowerPoint etc. The software that I use is called Blender 3-D and has already been used to create 35 mm movie films, plus many TV ads, so it is capable of high resolution graphics and animation. I have been using Blender for around 5 years now, so I am familiar with the software.

Transferring of videotape and movies to DVD:

I can transfer VHS videotape directly to DVD. If there is no editing involved, then the prices are as follows:

  • R200.00 for the first hour or part thereof, and R65.00 per hour therafter
  • This cost includes a printed label and a plastic jewel case (CD size)

8 mm movies:

The basic cost is R20.00 per minute for a direct copy. The small 50 foot reels usually run for around 4 minutes. These conversion usually require some editing, with titles etc. and the costs will vary according to the individual needs. I can also add music, but this must be provided by the customer. My rates are very low compared to many others, so feel free to ask for a quote for your particular needs.
