MVVS Petrol engines
MVVS petrol engines are world renowned for quality, reliability, and high performance. They are designed for model aeroplanes, and they are NOT converted chain-saw engines! There are cheaper engines on the market, and of course some brands are more expensive. MVVS provides the absolute best performance for the price. In 2003, the factory introduced the new design series starting with the 58 cc, followed by the light-weight 45 cc, and then the awesome 116 cc boxer twin cylinder. With these designs, MVVS took a drastic leap forward, and now these engines have a better power-to-weight ratio than most of the competition. The performance figures that they claim are also genuine and most accurate. As far as I am aware, they are the only manufacturer to use sophisticated state of the art test equipment from the Jaros company that is preferred by most prominent teams in GP motor cycle racing.
To increase this range of amazing engines, the factory has now produced a new 80 cc single cylinder for aerobatic models that would normally require a 100 cc engine. The 116 cc twin develops the power of many 140 cc engines, but MVVS has now produced a new top-of-the-range 152 cc twin that will produce around 13 hp for the all-out large-scale aerobatic models in the 45 to 48% size. Please note that the horsepower figures quoted by MVVS refer to sustainable power and not peak power. Peak power can be rated at around 20% more than sustainable power, so do not be caught by any misleading information that is not tried and tested.
If you have any doubts about which petrol engine to choose, then please look carefully at the quality of the internal components, and you will not fail to be impressed by the standard of workmanship of MVVS engines. There are a few photos below to illustrate this. They are unique in having a special graphite coating on the pistons to help with proper running-in and also to increase the service life of the engine. Another important point, is that their spare parts are reasonably priced.
